“I’m sorry, Jake,” Joche said as she carried her baby to the waterfall. In her heart, she knew what she planned was madness. But if she didn’t give the baby up, she knew she’d do something even worse. Basket in hand, she waded into the water as her baby wailed.
The waterfall shimmered above: crashing cascades formed the outline of a dragon. Then, the dragon’s head, made of water, erupted from the falls.
Joche and the baby were bathed in the water that collapsed off of the dragon’s head. It washed away Joche’s impure thoughts, her sadness, her evil intent.
Joche gasped and held her baby close, terrified of what she’d almost done.
